Senior Security Consultant

Mr. Reed joined NST in 2022 and is a triple IA-certified, senior-level information security and regulatory compliance professional with over 40 years of experience in the US government and electric utility sector. With nearly a decade of in-depth experience assisting clients with some of their toughest NERC CIP problems, Mr. Reed has been involved with compliance efforts at electric utilities across the country– from some of the largest power companies to the smallest municipals.

In addition, Mr. Reed has a deep technical background and an affinity for helping clients successfully navigate the complicated gaps between compliance and security.

Earlier in Career

Mr. Reed was a Central Intelligence Agency communications and information security officer for 30 years, responsible for secure communications from the foreign field operations and was later one of the key engineers working in the secure design and deployment of early field-deployable data systems. He expanded into COMSEC work and was involved as both a technical inspector and policy coordinator. Mr. Reed later held branch chief positions that involved providing managerial and technical leadership to US government and contract engineers involved in the design, deployment, and installation of multi-million-dollar specialized data and communications systems.

Following his government career, Mr. Reed focused on critical infrastructure. He has spent nearly a decade working in the utility space helping power utilities across the country successfully navigate the complex NERC CIP fabric.
